I love to sew and I love practicing yoga. My mother taught me to sew when I was very young, helping me create costumes and pieces for fun.   I tried yoga for the first time when I was 19 and was immediately hooked. A short time later I attended Bikram’s Yoga Teacher Training in the spring of 2003, and have been teaching and practicing ever since.

As a teacher and a student of yoga I noticed that we need a lot of stuff to practice: a mat, towels, water, and not to mention cute yoga outfits! All this stuff was hard to fit in a normal gym bag, so I designed a tote bag that could fit everything, including a yoga mat. I wanted this tote to be easily washable and have a water resistant lining, because things get a little sweaty in a Bikram Yoga class. I call it the ‘Yogi Tote.’

My second yoga bag design was inspired by a friend of mine. He asked for a special tote bag, a more ‘manly’ version. I obliged and created the ‘Cargo Tote,’ an over the shoulder, drawstring bag that is machine washable and can hold a yoga mat. This morphed into the ‘Zipper Tote’ over time.

The most recent addition is the ‘Sweati Bagi’ which is designed to keep your sweati, after-class outfit separate from the rest of the contents on your bag. Why use grocery bags, right? I found that the ‘Sweati Bagi’ is great for the diaper bag, too!

I began offering the yogi tote online and received a great response. I noticed there was a demand for unique yoga bags, so I decided to launch www.yogibagi.com.

I would like to thank Norman and Louise at Everywear Activewear for their help with getting these bags online, my family for their support, and especially my husband, Aaron, for his encouragement (and the name ;)

Please contact me at info@yogibagi.com with any questions.

Kindly,
Ariel
